CHC Language

Bodéwadmimwen (Potawatomi language) is gifted from one generation to the next. It unites us with our ancestors and the world around us. The way we see our world in words defines us as Nishnabé.

Interested in learning Bodéwadmimwen (Potawatomi Language)?

The Cultural Heritage Center has language resources for every age and learning level: PreK-12, collegiate and more. Utilizing immersive and interactive instructional methods, our educators can help you achieve your Bodéwadmimwen goals. All language curricula and resources are developed and approved by a team of Citizen Potawatomi nation language speakers. Please contact our Interdepartmental Potawatomi Language Lead, Naganwétek - Robert W. Collins, to assist in assessing your language needs and establishing the appropriate program for you.

“Every day that I can, I work on this language — learning it, speaking it, and teaching it. And every step of the way, I have had a community of language learners alongside me, which I am forever indebted to. Just as my teachers have been there for me, I am here for you. Together, we’ll pick up our language.”
