Construction continues on the museum floor in order to finish the new exhibits. Projections show that the gallery will be complete by the end of 2017
The exhibits at the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Cultural Heritage Center serve to educate, promote and preserve the history of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Contemporary and traditional objects on display help to bridge the gap between tribal history and the revitalization of traditional teachings, tribal art forms and the gradual progression of the cultural transformation of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.
Once it is complete, the main gallery will feature 11 exhibits that depict early Potawatomi culture and lifeways, bring to light the complicated narrative of the treaty and removal eras, and highlight the history of the Citizen Potawatomi in Kansas and Indian Territory.
The Long Room at the Cultural Heritage Center is home to our Veteran’s Wall of Honor, which displays the objects associated with the service of our Potawatomi tribal members who have served in the military.
